BTC Justice - Family Court Worker Program

The Family Court Worker Program is designed to assist Indigenous families navigating the criminal justice system, child welfare matters, or family-related legal issues. This program ensures that individuals understand their rights, responsibilities, and options, promoting culturally sensitive support at every stage of the justice process.

Key Services:

  • Guidance on Legal Rights: Helps families understand their rights and options when facing criminal charges or child welfare issues.

  • Advocacy and Liaison Services: Acts as a bridge between Indigenous families and the justice system, ensuring two-way communication and cultural respect.

  • Referrals to Resources: Connects families to social, medical, and educational services to address underlying issues that may contribute to legal challenges.

  • Support in Court: Assists clients in court proceedings, including help with forms and paperwork such as applications for legal aid or appeals.

  • Community-Based Initiatives: Promotes practical solutions to prevent legal issues and build stronger community relationships.

The program’s goal is to empower Indigenous families to navigate the justice system confidently while promoting healing and resolution.
