BTC Justice - Community Justice Worker Program

The Community Justice Worker Program supports restorative justice and culturally sensitive approaches to addressing crime within Indigenous communities. This program, funded through the Community-Based Justice Fund, works to foster fairness, inclusiveness, and responsiveness within the justice system.

Key Services:

  • Alternative Measures and Extrajudicial Sanctions: Provides structured opportunities for offenders to make reparations to victims and the community, avoiding a criminal record upon successful completion.

  • Victim-Offender Mediation: Facilitates dialogue between victims and offenders to address harm and foster healing.

  • Healing and Talking Circles: Offers culturally appropriate spaces for conflict resolution and community engagement.

  • Community Justice Committees: Includes Elders and youth representatives to guide restorative justice initiatives in the region.

  • Crime Prevention and Education: Raises awareness about restorative justice practices and BTC Justice programs.

The program promotes accountability and healing, enabling offenders to resolve their charges constructively while addressing the needs of victims and the community.
